StackInsights: When email marketing tools are in your stack

SiriusDecisions, in its “Eight Ways to Rethink B-to-B Email Marketing” describes ways marketers can tackle the riddle that is email marketing.

“Email has been a key component of the b-to-b demand creation and direct marketing mix since the early 1990s, and has since evolved well beyond a batch-and-blast or broadcast approach.” — SiriusDecisions

So how do email marketers get their job done? Here’s how marketers on the CabinetM platform are actually achieving their goals.

For marketers identifying themselves as in the B2B space, who use Email Marketing tools and have layers for their email marketing tools, we see some interesting data:

  • The most popular email product is MailChimp.
  • The most popular automation platform for this group is Salesforce Sales Cloud, followed by Epsilon Agility Harmony, and then HubSpot CRM.
  • Other popular products for these stacks are Google Analytics, followed by Twitter, WordPress, LinkedIn.
  • Other layers that appear along email marketing layers in B2B stacks are Social Media, Analytics, Blog, CRM, SEO, Email, Audience/Market Data & Data Enhancements.

What conclusions we can make about the email marketer? Social Media is tied in with the success of the email marketer. Automation is key, but there is still no one email platform every single email marketer has to have.

From the release: “Every CEO should be concerned about creating amazing buying experiences. And there are lots of great businesses making this happen today, but one area where they continue to struggle is email marketing,” Drift CEO David Cancel said. “Unfortunately, the best B2B marketing typically looks like this today: people get emails from sales reps, then similar emails from marketing, and those systems never talk to each other or know what’s happening in real-time on the website. We built Drift Email for Marketing to solve these problems and finally give marketers an email system that will help create an amazing buying experience.”
